Managing our usage of carbon dioxide and methane is critical to the preservation of our world. We’ve spent decades researching and understanding the problems, solutions, and repercussions surrounding our changing climate, and we must act now - as a workforce.
There are already over 4 million “green" jobs, but it’s going to take many more of us focused every day to achieve a true clean energy ecosystem. Currently the solar and wind industries are leading the growth of the workforce. Since 2012, the number of jobs in the solar industry has doubled from 120,000 to 240,000, but many more are needed for us to keep pace with the growth of solar installations.
A study from the Brookings Institute found the “transition to the clean energy economy will primarily involve 320 unique occupations spread across three major industrial sectors":
