Personal Summary

Katherine is a documentary storyteller and content strategist with full-time work experience in end-to-end filmmaking. She prides herself on balancing big picture visioning with hard-skill sets in videography, editing, photography and operations. As a storyteller, Katherine is passionate about using her skills in videography and photography to foster empathy, bridge divides and create lasting impact, and her projects often reflect that. She has a deep interest in environmental issues and sustainability and believes the key to creating environmental change is through storytelling. As a creative strategist, Katherine enjoys developing purpose-driven content ideas and making those concepts come to life.

In her most recent role, Katherine served as a Sr. Content Producer at The Future Project (TFP), a national nonprofit focused on youth empowerment. Katherine worked directly with the VP, Movement and Creative Director as the lead for all video and photo content. She played a pivotal role in creating content for TFP’s digital footprint and developing a brand voice in collaboration with the Marketing/Communications team. There, she launched a series of storytelling initiatives that raised organizational visibility and elevated fundraising efforts. This included short documentary profiles, brand-centric promotional videos, grant/ investor specific film projects and social media content. She also produced brand-aligned video and social content with corporate partners, including Tapestry and Coach.

Alongside her work with The Future Project, Katherine has held various freelance roles as Photographer, Videographer and Editor. Her work has been featured at the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia, PA and the Beacon Film Festival in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Marymount Manhattan College in Communication Arts and Creative Media with a minor in Environmental Studies and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Outside of work, Katherine maintains her love for creation, pursuing her interests in interior design, woodworking, gardening, collaging, and any type of DIY craft project.

Work Experience

Senior Content Producer
Aug 2015 - Apr 2019 The Future Project

Senior member of the Marketing & Communications Team, responsible for end-to-end video and photo production across online and social platforms for storytelling initiatives, social media campaigns, and donor relations, that successfully raised organizational visibility and kickstarted major fundraising for The Future Project, a national youth empowerment and leadership organization, (~$12.5M annual budget).

  • Led pre to post-production workflow for documentary video and photo projects, including, pitching, planning, scriptwriting, casting, filming, audio recording, and editing. Videos were created for the Future Project’s website, newsletters, and social media platforms.

  • Produced storytelling initiatives alongside public relations agencies, corporate and media partners, including Coach (Tapestry), The Huffington Post, and The Atlantic resulting in greater brand recognition and audience reach; generating over 1 million views across social and partner platforms.

  • Managed freelance photographers and videographers for large-scale events. Supervising editor for corporate partnerships including Verizon.

  • Collaborated with the Social Media and Audience Development Lead to identify online trends and compelling content. Created social media assets to drive audience engagement and promote new product offerings; more than doubling organic audience growth on Instagram and increasing average engagement rates by 6% in 7 months without major ad spend.

  • Led an audit of The Future Project’s online footprint and updated voice and style guides in preparation for a brand relaunch on September 2018.

  • Pioneered organic content marketing strategy, initiating conversations with top leadership around audience growth and online community building through customer-focused content creation. Developed a production pipeline for consistent content creation and launched 10 new content series to boost audience engagement on social media platforms.

  • Created systems for media management and maintained production equipment inventory.
Logistics Manager
Jun 2013 - Aug 2014 American Youth Foundation

Key member of the American Youth Foundation’s seasonal leadership team, managing off-site operations and logistics for a camp community of 500+ children and 80+ staff (~50k, annual budget).

  • Trained and supervised a team of 10-15 specialists who led daily off-site transportation, camping equipment, food provisions, and bicycle maintenance for hiking, biking and canoeing trips around New England and Canada. Oversaw direct-reports’ schedules and expenses.
